In this article, I will guide you through the process of accessing your Ancestry DNA results for free. The procedure is very simple, allowing you to view your results from the comfort of your home, eliminating the need to visit a lab. Let’s delve into the steps.
Step 1: Sign in to your Ancestry Account
Start by signing into your Ancestry account. This is the initial step in the process.
Step 2: Navigate to the DNA Results Summary
From any page on Ancestry, click on the “DNA” tab and select “DNA Results Summary”. If the menu doesn’t appear, simply click on the DNA tab, and you’ll be redirected to the DNA homepage.
Step 3: Check the Status Bar
At this point, you’ll see a status bar displaying the current status of your test if it’s still in process. The status bar includes various stages such as:
- Activated kit
- Kit received
- Sample processing
- DNA extracted
- DNA analyzed
- Results ready
If your results are ready, you’ll see various options to explore your traits at the top of the page.
Step 4: Explore Your DNA Story, DNA Matches, and ThruLines
Below these options, you’ll find sections like “Your DNA Story”, “DNA Matches“, and “ThruLines“.
Step 5: View Your Results
Finally, click on the green button to view the results in each section.
Once your DNA kit status shows “Results Ready”, you can follow this process to view your Ancestry DNA results. You also have the option to share your results with others, and we’ve provided steps for that as well.
